The Awesome and Authentic Agency Holiday Videos of 2014

Everyone is used to the annual onslaught of holiday advertising from every brand imaginable—it’s expected. But brands aren’t the only ones getting into the holiday spirit. There’s something about this time of year that inspires agencies to summon every last ounce of creativity to spread some holiday cheer themselves.

When agencies are no longer following wish lists from clients, their true colors come out. Given this ultimate gift of creative freedom, agency staffers often use the holiday season to create messages that show off their unique personality.

Check out this list of some of the most authentic, absurd, and awesome agency holiday videos:

Klick Health

For Klick Health, the world’s largest independent digital health agency, holiday videos are kind of a big deal. This year, it called upon new media artist Andrew Huang to remix holiday favorite “Jingle Bells” using nothing but an iPad, a Starbucks coffee maker, a stapler, and 131 other sounds from around the office.



Plan B

Chicago advertising agency Plan B is the Agency Alternative, and its holiday video is a little different as well. If you thought the Elf on the Shelf was just a beloved Christmas doll, think again. Plan B brings the Elf of the Shelf to the agency world to report on who is being naughty and nice in the office this holiday season.




There’s nothing like hurling snowballs at your co-workers to spread some holiday cheer around the office. With the help of a Phantom camera, Exit10 filmed these slow-motion, icy attacks on its employees and shared them for the rest of the world to see.



Door Number 3

Austin-based Door Number 3 shows us what happens outside its doors around the holidays, with a little help from Hipster Santa. This New-Agey Santa even has some helpful advice for folks planning to make him a snack on Christmas Eve: “If you’re leaving milk and cookies, I’m lactose intolerant—make it soy, gluten free. And as far as fruitcake bars are concerned, I’m into cleanses, but just not this time of year.”



Ogilvy & Mather Paris

Have you ever wondered, what if Christmas was the subject of an advertising focus group? Well, even if you haven’t, Ogilvy & Mather Paris has, and its video explores how people might have reacted to the concept. And if you’ve never questioned some of the strange traditions we accept as a part of the holiday before, you certainly will after watching this.



Wasserman + Partners Advertising

Sometimes we all need a little help getting into that holiday spirit.  Not to worry, because Vancover-based agency Wasserman + Partners created “12 Holiday Holigrams,” a series of festive Instagram videos. All it takes is watching one (or all) of these 15-second clips for 12 merry reminders of the holiday season.
